In 1980, after fainting during a jog in Central Park in New York, Bob Marley passes an X-ray examination which shows five tumors, three brain, lung and stomach. He said nothing to his surroundings and continues his concerts including four at Le Bourget in Seine-Saint-Denis, France, July 3, 1980 which brought together more than 50,000 people and plays a recorded final concert in Pittsburgh, September 23 . Bob Marley then went to a clinic in Bavaria where he is being treated with an original German physician, Dr. Josef Issels providing longer life for the price of hard suffering. The cancer is spreading.
At the end of his life, Bob Marley converted to the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, which was the highest authority in the late Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie I (Jah Live), considered by Rastas as the reincarnation of Jesus announced in the Apocalypse (the "king of kings, lord of Lords"). He wanted to end his days in Jamaica, but dies in Miami May 11, 1981, too weak to make the flight to Kingston. He will be buried May 21 in his parish of birth, in St Ann, Jamaica, after a state funeral in Kingston that will attract hundreds of thousands of people5 .
